Message Hi everyone, here's my story.

I put my car into a dealership because it wouldn't start every now and then. Finally it would and the problem would be gone for a long time. I suspected a totally random problem with the electrical system and I've put the car into a dealership for a full consult test and looking through the electrical system for something that could be obvious, like a corroded connector or something of the kind.

During the car's stay at the dealership two injectors went bad.

The car was fine before I've put it in and ran like crap when I paid them a visit. I'm 100% POSITIVE all 6 cylinders were firing when I left it there. I had 0-60 and Vmax just as my slow ass stage 2 NA should have (6.5 seconds and 145mph respectively) and the car was smooth. Not super smooth, but for a 12 year old car it was just fine.

Since the dealership owner is an acquaintance of my parent's I didn't want to start a war and I bought 3 injectors (2 to be replaced and one spare just in case). Again thanks to Ruzzell - THE MAN for any spare Z parts. He gave me a good deal and sent it to me IMMEDIATELY. THANKS!!!

Since it was only $100 I said the hell with it, not worth fighting for.

I just called them to find out what's up. The car is done. And there goes a strange conversation:

"You know what, it's the strangest thing, we've hooked the two injectors up to a testing bus" - right, I'm sure they have a testing bus for Z injectors. There's only like 50 Zs in the whole fucking country and as far as I know the injectors are pretty unique and no other european cars have the same ones...

"and we've increased their cycle and they started working again" - right. I'm sure that's what injectors do pretty often: first get clogged for no apparent reasons, 2 of them at the same time after almost 100K miles of no problems - what's the probability of that happening??

At which point they agreed that:

1) I have 3 spare injectors now, known to be good with good resistance of 12.4Ohms. For a $100 it's not bad.

2) No other injectors they've tested have EVER gotten magically UNCLOGGED.

Well, at this point I'm willing to leave it at that, but there is the question of the labor charge for replacing the "faulty" injectors. The suckers didn't want to do it the dremel method which I explained to them and gave them documentation for. They pulled the plenum and admit to 1.5 DAYS of labor. They didn't quote me yet - obviously they're thinking of a price I will swallow up without picking a fight.

Well, if they give me a reasonable price, like charge me for 2-4 hours of labor, I'll most likely just pay and forget it and never visit them again.

However, if they play hard and quote me for 12-14 hours, I'll have to start a war because there's no way I'm paying it since I HONESTLY BELIEVE ALL OF THIS IS BULLSHIT.

I think what they did was disconnect something while they were looking for the reason the car wouldn't start, then they neglected to connect it back up and thus they came up with the injectors gone bad. While pulling/reinstalling the plenum they realized what they screwed up, they fixed it, which made the 'bad' injectors go good again as they have been for 12 years before.

And now they're coming up with all this BS to justify charging me for labor.

So... any thoughts/comments on this one? Any points in their story that are obviously wrong and I can point it out to them and use it as argument as to why I won't pay labor for 'replacement'??

Or am I in the wrong and what happened is very probable and common and I should just pay the labor charge and forget it?

I would appreciate your opinion on this one. Thanks a bunch!
